Hello Friends! As I looked outside today, I noticed just how few leaves are left of the trees. October seems to be the month where change is noticeable. The nights are cold, with some morning having frost on the cars, but the days are great for walks in the woods. It is also the season where living by a river bring a variety of wildlife out and about before the snow arrives. Our deer are back and feed daily in the yard. So much so, that Brody doesn't even bark at them any more.
No hunters allowed.. Their safe place!
We have not heard too many geese as of yet, but with the colder weather here they will be flying over any day now. A sure sign that snow is coming. We have had an unusually wet fall. Last weekend the river was at normal levels. The family (home for Thanksgiving) went for a boat ride on the river and had a picnic on the island across the river. It was a perfect way to spend a holiday Sunday. A few days ago, the river flooded over the bank and now our field is one big lake.
While our oldest was home for the weekend, she took advantage of mothers fabric stash and made a tablerunner.
She doesn't have much quilting experience, but she fell in love with a pattern that I had by Studio 180 - Deb Tucker and the finished result is beautiful. She did leave the runner here for Mom to quilt. :)

I had the runner laying about during the week and now all the quilters who come for class want to make it.
Yesterday, a few of us went on a ladies day. First, a visit to the Lively Heritage Craft Show. What a wonderful array of handmade creations, baked treats, (I just had to buy some Pulla.) quilted items, jewelry, woven goods, and visits with friends I haven't seen in a while. Then it was off to Espanola, to the Fibre Arts Festival. Their were wonderful quilts, a large variety of vendors selling all sorts of fiber arts. I bought a red hat! What did you buy?
Today I'm busy packing for my workshop tomorrow. I must say that I am feeling quite excited. I love spreading the joy of quilting. With winter knocking at the door, what a fun way to start the quilting season.
