Christmas 2014

Hello Friends.  Well tomorrow is Christmas Eve!  My girls have arrived home for the holidays and the house is filled with a good kind of busy.  Brody is so excited to have his peeps all home that he just roams from room to room seeing if anyone is there.  The weather here in Northern Ontario has been unusual.  Last week, I sent Laur (our youngest) photos of the lack of snow in the front yard.  Now, this week, we have had wet snow which froze of the trees making it very much like a winter wonderland.

Not much quilting has been happening in the studio these days.  Well not from my "to do" list anyway. Laur has decided to make a quilt for her beau back in London, UK.  It has been a marathon of piecing combination units.  Now we just need to sew the blocks together, put on the borders, quilt it, make matching pillow cases... She flies back to England, when!?

Erin found some delightful fabric and brought it home just to taunt me.  I'm sure that whatever she decides to make will be wonderful.  What would you make with these lovely fat quarters?

I did take some time to make a new something for the house for the holidays.  A recent visit to the quilt shop had me in utter delight when I found this fabric.  To me, it feels very Scandinavian.  These placemats fit the bill, and I can enjoy the fabric whenever I'm in the kitchen.

Do you make things for the house at Christmas?  If so what is your favourite?

With the holidays here I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.   Here is a picture of my favourite part of my house, the fireplace.  I love my collection of Santas and keep some of them out all year!
