I'm seeing red, and orange and yellow........

Hello Friends. Happy Thanksgiving!  We spent some time with our oldest daughter in Guelph this Thanksgiving weekend and even managed to sneak in a turkey dinner with my husbands family.  Its so nice to have an excuse to slow down and enjoy a meal and a visit with family.

I have been taking quite a few photos the past few days, as the colours are at their prime.  Rich golds and orange, reds and deep rusts , almost purple.

When I talk with quilters, most will admit, that this season sparks a type of excitement brought on by seeing the mottled carpet effect in the forest.  Mother Nature playing the artist again.

Our daughter took us to one of the local farmers markets Saturday morning.  There too are the colours we see at this time of year.  Different coloured heirloom carrots, purple beets, peppers and of course that deep purple “ aubergine” of the eggplant.   I am feeling a bit out of the loop as there are so many new varieties of vegetables now. Just squash alone, and I find myself consulting Wikipedia for help and cooking information.

Ah yes fall, the season of fall fairs, studio tours and quilt shows.  Last weekend the Sudbury quilter’s and stitchery guild held their show.  Like everything at this time of year – there were just so many beautiful quilts.

Awards for hand quilting and beautiful machine quilting as well.

During the quilt show I took the opportunity to launch my newest project - bringing quilting education to the north with the Northern Ontario Quilting Symposium.  On March 11th and 12th 2016 Quilting by the River is proud to sponsor Anita Zobens , Superior Threads Certified Educator, for two, one day workshops.  These workshops are open to everyone.  Please click here to learn more about these workshops.

On the 20 th and 21st of October,  I will once again be in Perth Ontario.  I am so excited to return to spend time with the quilter's there making the beautiful Northern Neighbours pattern by Stidio 180.  Monday night I have the pleasure of being the guest lecturer at Sew Crafty Quilt Shop. If your in the area make sure you drop by, they tell me there will be cake. :)
