Hello Friends. I am starting off the New Year with a special news announcement. Quilting by the River is once again hosting a special guest instructor to the Northern Ontario Quilting Symposium. This year, Kathy Wylie will join us to share her expertise in all things appliqué. I know for some of you, myself included, when I hear the word appliqué I feel a shutter of horror vibrate through my bones. Don't dispare, Kathy is coming to Sudbury in May to change your perspective and spread the joy of appliqué!
This year's Northern Ontario Quilting Symposium features Kathy Wylie.
To start off the weekend, I have invited Kathy to share the story of her quilting journey through a Trunk Show on Friday evening. The Trunk Show is open to everyone, not just those signed up for the workshops. So, make this an evening out - grab your girlfriends, get gussied-up, go out for dinner and head on over to the Trunk show! Tickets are available at various quiltshops in the north, Country Quilter in Sudbury, Cindy Bee’s in Espanola, Cottage Quilter in Corbiel, and Life’s a Stitch in Sault Ste Marie. You can also let me know and I will have one set aside for you at the door.
Saturday starts off with a bang as Kathy introduces us to hexies by machine, without the use of paper. What?? Thats right, if you have wanted to do a project with hexies but have been sent away by the fear of hand work and picking out paper, this is for you!
If your like me and have shied away from turned edge appliqué because you have two left thumbs, then I will be seeing you in Sunday’s class.
Join Kathy as she teaches the Apliquick method for turned-edge appliqué. If you have always wanted to learn turned-edge appliqué, or struggled with it in the past, this system is for you. Apliquick rods will be available in class so you can try before you buy. During this class Kathy will go over some machine tips and tricks for stitching your appliqué by machine as well as secrets for stitching by hand.
To register for the workshops please contact me - don't delay space is limited!
Well thats all the news for now. Thanks for dropping by, until next time, stay safe, watch out for snow ploughs, and keep on quilt’n.
