Snow, Snow, stay away, I still want to be outside and play!

Hello Friends. It’s the middle of October and we are starting to get right into the swing of the quilting season. I know for me; I have 3 samples for classes on the go and 1 new pattern started. My quilty friends have just enjoyed the first of many Quilt Shows in and around the area. Craft show season is upon us as well, with may yet to come and the calendar ticks closer to the Holiday season. That’s right friends, Christmas is coming and as the past has proven, faster and faster with every passing year. My youngest has ordered an advent Calendar for Christmas. Gosh, I had better start now, because if past years are any indication, I will be quilting the thing on Christmas eve. Like none of you have ever done that!

It has been a whirl wind here at the studio these past few weeks. First off, I hosted a few of my close Quilting Buddies for a week here in the North to quilt and share and talk, laugh and eat! Debbie Kelanty is owner of Quilters Obsession, an online quilt shop selling fabric and kits (click here to view her website), and Katrina Thomas, a professional quilt instructor and pattern designer and owner of The Hope Chest Quilting (click here to view her website). They are also certified Studio 180 Design instructors which is how we meet. 5 full days of quilting and learning and sharing. I was able to give my new studio space a trial run for teaching and functionality while they were here. The girls really liked the view!

I played with the mini Quick Curve Ruler and made this Little Trees runner and my favourite Posh Santa. I will be teaching Posh Santa at a local quilt shop so stay tuned for more info. I also made this bag called “The Poppins Bag” (large) for Cindy Bee’s Quilt Shoppe.

Katrina made this wall hanging which she will be teaching to introduce Applique using the Apliquick tools and the Migrating Geese border.

Debbie started and finished “Cut Crystles” a new pattern out by Studio 180 Design and features their new Wedge Tool.

Some surprising news came to my email inbox this week that sent me over the moon with excitement. A few months ago, I sent along info and photos of “Castle Lilies” to Northcott Fabrics. They had put a call out for quilts made from the Stonehenge fabric collection. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the line of fabrics, 10 quilts would be chosen from 3 categories of sizes to take part in a traveling quilt show. Well, what do you know, “Castle Lilies” was chosen as one of the quilts in the Throw Quilt Category.

Castle Lilies, the pattern, is also available, so you too can make this quilt. Ask for it at your local quilt shop or you can order it online through my website. Quilters Obsession (Debbie Kelanty) has kits available for sale on the website.

Thank you to all the quilters who send along photos of their finished quilts.

Keep them coming as we all love to see your quilts. They will be added to The Gallery page on my website. Click here to see the quilts

Here are a few recent photos that I have received.

It’s time for the Hubby and I to go for an afternoon walk, this before I need a winter coat and mittens. Thanks for dropping by. Until next time, stay safe, enjoy the fall colours and try a new quilting technique.
