Quilting gets me through it!

Hello Friends. November is here, and Christmas is just a few weeks away. How are you all doing? I ask because here in Northern Ontario, we have experienced an early start to the winter season. We had out first snow fall October 31st and the white stuff never left. Personally, I’m not big on winter. So, I am managing but shoveling and big winter cloths already. Nope not my happy place. On the bright side, quilting saves the day.

Just before we saw snow in the latter part of October, I found myself in Buckhorn Ontario (just outside of Peterborough). I was there to teach my “Quarry” pattern and present my trunk show to the guild. First off, what a beautiful countryside. The Hubby came with me, so we had some time to sight see before my scheduled class. The workshop was a hit and the quilters did an amazing job. I had a really great time sharing a few stories and quite a few laughs. I have even received photos of their finished quilts. Thanks, ladies, for sending the pictures my way and I hope to see more as you all finish your projects.

The trunk show is always a fun time for me as I get to spend some share time with quilters. It just so happened that they were to dress up for Halloween and if you look hard you can see Marg Simpson in the Background. I am so glad I missed that memo..LOL

I taught this fun and easy “MacDuff Bag” two days back to back at Cindy Bee’s quilt shop. The quilters finished their bags and even stuffed them with their tools and notions to go home. Now that’s what I call a successful class.

Look at the happy faces. The bag itself is a perfect size for carrying quilt related stuff to wherever you are going, or a large quilt (stitching binding in the car) or as an overnight bag. Well you get the picture. Thanks ladies, I had a great time.

Quilting friends are always close to our hearts and today I want to send my special Quilty friend a special thank you hug. You see, Val made this mug rug and she gifted it to me for use in the new Loft. Well, it just so happens I forgot my mouse pad at home and there was this beautiful mug rug and it works great with my mouse. It now has an honored spot beside my laptop to remind me daily of my special friend. Sorry Loft goers, it’s mine now!

I will be hosting my first quilt class at the River House tomorrow in the studio downstairs. I am so excited to have my students share this special place with me while we quilt the dreary November day away. If I remember – I will take photos to share.

Speaking of the studio – a new email photo to share. This one from Martha Mosher. Her completed “Catch a Falling Star” is breathtaking. Thank you, Martha, for not only purchasing my pattern, but for the beautiful quilt you made.

Keep those photos coming in so that I can post them on the gallery.

Hubby is calling – I guess we have shoveling to do! 

So, Thanks for dropping by. Until next time, stay safe, stay warm and put another log on the fire.
