Get back to a routine!

Hello Friends.  Summer holidays have officially come and gone.  I’m not sure if it was just me or if summer somehow did not feel the same as it usually does.  First, the weather was a bit off to say the least.  Time at camp, as us northerners call it, lacked those lazy hazy days of sunning, napping and a lot of sitting.  Secondly, It lacked the laid back feel that is what camp is all about.  Don’t get me wrong, it was still a great place to escape.

We are back now and things are flying into place.  ”Millie”, my long arm quilting machine” is feeling much better, and we have quilted two quilts already this week.  I’ve done all the laundry, and there was enough of it, and found all the dust bunnies that had taken up residence at the house while we were away.

Classes at the studio have started up this week, as the ladies are slowly getting themselves back into some quilting.  It is this time of year when I visit the local quilt shops and set out dates for upcoming classes.  Have a few really exciting ones coming up this fall at Cindy B’s quilt shop, so stay tuned for the updated list and dates.  i finished the sample for a new class that the ladies have been waiting for called, “Stencils and Templets”.  This is part two of the “Free Motion Machine Quilting” class I have taught out and about for the past few years.  Over the summer my oldest daughter (thank-you so much) has helped me revamp my teachers package.  In the upcoming weeks, my blog page will also get a much needed face lift.  So exciting.

What’s in store for this fall?  I have booked a venue, (the Quality Inn) in Sudbury, where I will be hosting a two day workshop, October 20, 21, 2014, for everyone far and near.  The posters are in the works and I will have detailed information for you also here on my blog. Space is limited, so this is your sneak peak and mark your calenders now.

With all that rolling around in my head, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. Sometimes, when things get crazy like this it’s important to make time for yourself.  It’s hard when there are so many things that need your attention.  I’ve been really lucky, my neighbour and I walk most mornings, very early I might add, as each of us have stuff to do.  She is a school teacher, which means that our morning walks will soon come to an end when school resumes in September. I find it a great way to start the day.  I’m not sure Brody feels the same way, as he really likes sleeping.

With that, I’d better get my morning chores done so I will be ready for my walk.  Hope all of you have had a great summer.  Now go scare away the dust bunnies in your quilting space and piece something.  :)

Our morning walks to the end of the road!

Thanks for dropping by.  Until next time, stay safe and talk a minute for yourself today.
