It is just crazy how fast time flies! Another week has come and gone again and my list doesn’t seem to ever get smaller.

Two weeks ago I was invited to Pieceful Nights Quilters’ Guild in Toronto for a trunk show and lecture. They were interested in seeing traditional quilts, and a talk on precision piecing. Well that was just up my ally and I couldn’t refuse such a great opportunity. I brought more suitcases of quilts than clothes! I wanted to cover a variety of techniques: piecing, applique, red work, etc… My goal is always to stir up some creative juices and motivate everyone to try new techniques. I had a great time with the ladies and it was a lot of fun meeting new quilters. Thank-you all for having me.

On my way to Toronto, I HAD to stop in Newmarket at a quilt shop called “Evelyn’s”. It is truly worth the stop if you are in the area passing by. I found some great fabric, of course, and a background that I had to have. Do I know what I’m doing with it? No! But you can never have too much fabric and it fit in the car.

We made a quick stop the day after the show at the Finn store in North Toronto. The store carries a line of Finnish fabric called “Marimekko”. The prints are similar to that of Kaffe Fasset and Amy Butler. Some are representative of landscapes, lots of trees and lakes. Yes, friends, I bought some… and it’s so pretty that I don’t think I can cut it up.

During my travels I had time to visit with my sister and two daughters. On Thursday, we had a girl’s day at the Scandinave Spa in Collingwood. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it. The whole experience was so relaxing.

Back in the studio, I finished putting the borders on my snowman quilt. Now I just have to find a longarmer to quilt it. Kidding! With the design wall bare, I figure it’s time to go through the UFO cupboard and see what’s next.

However, I fear there is a new project about to jump on the wall before then!
