Welcome to 2014

Happy New Year Friends!  Christmas was a whirlwind of activity.  It was nice to share the holidays with friends and family.  We even had a visit from abroad, as my youngest daughter’s boyfriend from the UK, came over to experience winter in Canada.  With temperatures hovering around -25C, it is bound to be a visit he will not soon forget.

One of my goals this year is to make time each week for my own stitching.  With that said, I have been working on a fun “little” project called “Itty Bitty Primitive Pinwheels” by Primitive Gatherings.  The quilt, when finished measures 10” square.

I am having so much fun that I think I may have to dedicate some serious time to making more of these miniature type projects.

The little acrylic square measures 1 1/2”.  It is sooo cute!  There is something about a mini quilt that makes them irresistible.

I also bought myself a Christmas gift this year.  It is a Block of the Month wall hanging by Lynette Anderson.  I came across the picture about a month ago and  it niggled at me until I gave in and ordered the patterns and fabric kit.  Check out Hamels Fabrics in Canada as they carry a wide selection of her patterns.  http://www.hamelsfabrics.com/

Scandinavian Christmas is a blend of stitchery, applique and piecing.  Now I’m not real good at the applique so I’m calling this little gem my 2014 challenge quilt.  It is probably going to take me the whole year to finish.

January is certainly starting off with a bang, and not just my house under duress of the cold.  With quilts to make dancing in my head, quilts to quilt on the long-arm and some special classes to get ready for 2014, I can certainly say, 2014 is off to a great start.  With winter officially here, its a good time to stay indoors and do some quilting.  :)

Well friends, thank you for dropping by.  Let us know if you have any challenge quilts lined up for 2014.  Most of all - say warm!
