Look at this beautiful block.
The only way to construct this Flying Swallows block used to be either by paper piecing or templates.
But now using the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star Ruler we can create the three star points within each star point using a strip pieced method designed by Pam Goggans.
There are no inset seams and no templates.
Using the techniques outlined by Deb Tucker we make the units bigger and square them up so that the points come out pointy and units fit together like a dream.

About the Hunter's Star Extravaganza
Take your quilting up a notch by building your skills as a quilt designer! The Hunter’s Star Extravaganza begins by mastering the fundamentals of the basic 7-inch Hunter’s Star block using Studio 180 construction techniques. By the end of the first day, quilter’s will feel confident constructing Hunter’s Stars as they are transformed from a complicated, time-consuming block to a fast, fun, and easily strip-pieced favourite! On day two, creativity reigns as Hunter’s Stars are arranged in unique designs to produce a 60” x 70” lap quilt. Several sample layouts will be available to work with, however Carla’s individual support and guidance will help quilters dive-in to create their own unique design with innovative fabric formulas, helpful tips, and advice.
Quilting by the River will be running a second Northern Neighbours workshop after a fantastic weekend last April in Sudbury. This fall, Carla will be taking Northern Neighbours on the road to the Lanark Country Quilter's Guild. Please contact the guild to register.

Choose the size that works best for you - from a quick table runner to a full king size quilt - then join Carla to master this beautiful pattern.
A fun and informative evening with the Rayside Balfour Quilters Guild as I discuss my favourite rulers and why they should be in every quilters tool box.
